Local Rules

Local Rules in play as at 27/9/24

New 1st green and 2nd tee area

As we open up the new 1st green/2nd tee there are a few areas that will have local rules in place, whilst those areas mature a little more.

There will be two types of local rule in place:

  1. No Play Zones
  2. GUR areas

Signs will be placed in the areas that are designated as ‘ No Play' zones.  These areas are defined as the areas of long grass, specifically those areas above the two bunkers and the two mounds to the right of the green.

If your ball is in a no play zone you must take relief.  Also, if your ball is outside a no play zone and a no play zone interferes with your area of intended stance or area of intended swing you must take relief.  Relief can be taken in two ways:

  1. The player may take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the nearest dropping zone, which is marked out by a white line and sign denoting it as the drop zone.  The dropping zone is a relief area under rule 14.3 or
  2. Take nearest point of relief under Rule 16.1b

Areas that are marked as  GUR

Areas of GUR will be defined as areas in between the white lines.  If a players ball is in the ground under repair, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in the ground under repair, the player has these relief options:

  1. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1, or
  2. The player may take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the nearest dropping zone, which is marked out by a white line and sign denoting it as the drop zone.  The dropping zone is a relief area under rule 14.3.
  3. The player may play the ball as it lies

The area in front of the new 2nd tee is deemed Ground Under Repair (GUR). The area of GUR is defined as beyond the front tee, within the white lines to the right and left and before the road.

If a players ball is in the ground under repair, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in the ground under repair, the player has these relief options:

  1. The player may take free relief under rule 16.1, or
  2. The player may take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone, which is marked out by a white line and sign denoting it as the drop zone.  The dropping zone is a relief area under rule 14.3
  3. The player may play the ball as it lies
